Endangered Sumatran tiger dies in trap on APP concession in Indonesia

Every day, an area of Indonesian rainforest half the size of Manhattan is destroyed.
Paper companies like Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) will keep destroying tiger forests every day until they learn that huge companies around the world – like Nestle,Mattel, Kraft and Staples – will avoid business with them unless they clean up their act. Indonesia's rainforests- and the last tigers that call them home- need you.

Warning: this blog contains images and video footage that may upset you.
Recently word came to our Greenpeace office in Indonesia that a Sumatran tiger was stuck in an animal trap in an area being logged by Asia Pulp and Paper (APP).

Please Save Max, Very Loving, Cuddling Kitty. Has 4 Days NY/NJ Area

MAX ONLY HAS 4 DAYS TO FIND A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME! HIS FOSTER IS MOVING ON SATURDAY!! THIS IS TRULY URGENT! THERE MUST BE SOMEONE OUT THERE WHO CAN FOSTER/ADOPT THIS AWESOME BOY!!!

CONTACT COLLEEN AT COLLEENMAR@HOTMAIL.COM
PLEASE HELP THIS AMAZING AND AFFECTIONATE, SOFT AS A BUNNY MAX KITTY!!
HIS FOSTER IS MOVING AND MAX NEEDS A FOREVER HOME RIGHT AWAY!

Max is a super cute 6 year old, neutered, microchipped and vaccinated kitty that we rescued from the euth list at the city pound. Max loves people - he always wants to know what humans are up to and will follow you from room to room and sit down by your side. If you're looking for a cat that interacts with people, Max is the cat for you!

Max is very playful - he will not tire of playing with his stringy toy the "cat charmer". He's hilarious when he plays. Max is not very vocal, and he sleeps peacefully through the night. He likes to sleep on his
human's bed.

Max is missing his two top canine teeth an sometimes his lip curls under giving making him look as though he's grinning. I know that there are all kinds of wonderful cats seeking homes but as cute goes, I don't
think you can top Max's "grin"!

Cats have scent glands at the corner of their mouths and in front of their ears. Cats mark the people and animals they like by rubbing these scent areas against them. Max loves to rub his mouth on you, it's almost
like he's giving kisses! When he really gets into it he may even nibble a little, which isn't meant to rude but it is also not behavior that should be encouraged. Max knows the command "ow" means to cease
nibbling. So, that's his quirk, and that's why he's not good for a home with small children.

Max is an absolute love who is so lost in the world right now.  He is desperately awaiting his forever someone. As an animal rescue volunteer I have met a lot of unique and fun cats, but Max is really extra-special. I've never seen a cat that brings a smile to people so instantly. Max really touches people. He's the kitty of a lifetime, a
forever friend.

Please consider Max. He is neutered, microchipped, fully vetted and up to date on shots and looking forward to meeting you.

Donations Needed. Please share. HOUSTON, TEXAS. MOTHER BLUE PITTIE AND HER
5 PUPS FOUND.  THEY ALL NEED YOUR HELP FOR A
SECOND CHANCE!  FUNDING AND DONATIONS NEEDED!

CONTACT ASHLEY LARSEN AT:
The pictures are heartbreaking yet beautiful. One can see the protective nature and love she has for each of he pups. Her past is unknown yet her sweetness and gentle nature speak for themselves.

Today the rescue noticed that one of the pups is sick and will be heading to the veternarin in the morning. All will need vaccinated...especially the little ones that are at a higher risk due to their weak immune systems. Another puppy will need to undergo surgery on hernia. And.... the mother will be need to spayed. This will be the last set of pups that she will have (which I can guess she appreciates).

Best Friends Furever desperately needs any help. Like most rescue groups, they rely solely on the compassion of people who see how wonderful animals are and what they bring to our lives.

Any amount will do nothing but help them reach their goal. Hopefully will a clean bill of health each will be ready to start anew!

Even though this email is being sent out after Mother’s Day, the story is a last reminder that the love of a mother (in this case the mother do) has no boundaries. Look at the pictures and you will see.

Thank to the compassionate volunteers at Best Friend Furever, a rescue group based near Houston Texas, a mom and her 5 pups (age: 6 weeks) are literally “out of the woods.” The woods in which it is believed that the mother has been living in for the past three months.
Best Friends Furever received an email concerning two abandoned pitbulls in the same wooded area. After searching for them to no avail they received ye another call and discovered a blue pit bull and four babies. They were successfully adopted. Ironically, the same lady who discovered the pit bull and her babies found this mother and he 5 pups. Sorry for the confusion.

Getting back to the mom and her puppies... they are safe for the time being but time is of the essence. With limited funding, Best Friends Furever Rescue is reaching out in order to ensure that each puppy and mother get their second

PLEASE HELP SAVE THIS SWEET BOY!
WUILLITO – #A514790 – 9 yr old male pittie mix – OS, 4/23 – Owned 9 yrs,  owner moving.

Meet Wuillito! Manhattan shelter 212 722 4939 x 228

Phone: 212. 722.4939 ex. 228

Wuillito was surrendered by his owners after 9 years. He lived with a sister (actually looks like it was his girlfriend) too!

WUILLITO – A514790 – 9 yr old male pittie mix – OS, 4/23 – Owned 9 yrs, moving.

A Volunteer Writes:   Wuillito is a 9 yo un-neutered male at the shelter since 4/23/2011.  He weights 70lbs. Wuillito was relinquished by his long time owner as his family is moving to a house not allowing pets. His former master unfortunately and sadly did not leave any information about Wuillito with us. One would thing that a dog who was part of a family for such a long time would not be disposed of so unceremoniously...Wuillito seems to have been well cared for.  He appears healthy, his coat is clean and in good shape and his has a healthy weight.  Wuillito is up and about. He walks very well, marks his territory (he is not neutered) and is very much housetrained.  He is very civil to all dogs, male and female met on our walk and up close in the backyard.  Wuillito can sit on command and loves to be petted. He is stressed although appears calm and at times emits little crying sounds.  It must be so distressing for an elderly pet to find himself in an unfamiliar situation and without his owner. His brain can not just process the ordeal... Wuillito is...only a dog.  Wuillito is in good shape.  He has still a good few years to give love and loyalty to an master. Wuillito is at the Manhattan shelter, waiting for his new family.

NYC/NJ Dogs /Puppies in need of Homes Please Share

Please share these posts on social media.

Recently IOHR saved many dogs from shelters in NJ and the South. Several are still looking for forever homes. Here are  a few we would like you to help make them part of a wonderful family.

Cocoa Puff-
This sweet and timid Aussie is only 3-4 months and ready for a new home . Good with other dogs cats and even kids, She has a great amount of energy and perfect for an active family. Will make an excellent hiking, jogging partner. Loves to hang in the dog park. This bred is super smart and learns tricks fast.
She needs a FOSTER- adoption would be great als!
Minne
OK, so Minnie, or Minnie Monster as we affectionately call her, is probably not a Chi/Labrador mix. Truth is we don't exactly know what she is, but she looks to be Chi-something big as she is about twice the size if not more of a standard Chi. We have been fostering her since about Christmastime, and with life being so busy and so many dogs to save we are just getting her up here now. She is best described as a small dog that can capture the love and affection of a big dog person, such as myself. She isnt barky unless she hears something and something is wrong, and she gets along with all of our dogs to the point of snuggling with the lazy ones and biting heads alllll day with our 1 year old Pointer pup who loves biting heads. One requirement before adopting Minnie is a bed, you must have a dog bed...Minnie loooves dog beds, and proudly lays on a bed, even in a room by herself, as the queen of the throne. Minnie was rescued in a group of 25 from a high kill shelter in Missouri who uses the inhumane gas chamber to euthanize, and sadly we believe her to have been a stray that nobody really went looking for. She is house trained, doesn't seem to mind being in a crate during the day (as we would sometimes have to crate her and the Pointer during the day due to the Pointers destructive puppy tendencies) and is pretty much a plug and play adoption. She went to my mothers house once, and my mother having cats I know the cats didnt like her and she seemed to be unfamiliar with cats. I would NOT go as far as to say she can not go to a home with cats, but I think she needs a break in period of adjustment, so if you have cats we will bring her by for a test visit. She is such a mellow sweetie I really find it hard to believe that there is an animal she would not find a friend in though. We are unsure of her age being a rescue dog, but her teeth appear nice and her energy is high, which leads us to believe the gray color is natural coloring, not age. To fill out an adoption application to make our very own Minnie Monster a part of your home, please visit www.inourhandsrescue.org She is being fostered in Howell NJ. Thanks for looking to adopt and support animal rescue!
Boxer Mix Puppies
8 weeks old we have both male and female.
Rescued from the south they didnt stand a chance at a home in an already over crowded shelter theyhave been in a wonderful foster home forthe past 2-3 weeks , Showered with love and affection they are just amazing bundles of puppy ready for a new home!
Pookie-
2-3 yr old Poodle also languishing in a kennel for a long period of time. He will be getting a nice over due shave down tomorrow. Great with other animals nice energy and good with kids who don't pull his ears bite his tail or steal his toys!. house broken and easy to walk. utd on shots and altered He also has been groomed and looks lovely
STILL IN THE SHELTER__ FOSTER HIM NOW

Santo
Ok, here is the story of this little guy. Our rescue had an upcoming event, and in addition to our dogs, we decided to pull some from a local kennel/shelter. Now, me being me, made a beeline to the pit bulls...my favorite breed. If you are reading this, you probably already know how misunderstood this breed is. Well, like most shelters, they were at no shortage of pit bulls who were either owner surrender, strays who wandered in on a cold night, or even seized in township violation cases, so .I wanted to go out of our way to help those who wanted out. .I originally marked Debo on the website, and on my way to see him we stopped at a cage of a very sad little black pit, Santo. According to Santo's cage door, he had been there for about 6 months, had been a stray and nobody came to find him, maybe nobody cared. He had his head down as he lay on the ground, but as we called his name, the magic began. Most pit bulls in their sweetness have what we call the 'wiggle butt', displayed when they are happy to see you or just happy to be happy. .We called 'Santo', and with each repetition, the wiggle got more pronounced, the butt raised, the ears went back, and by about the 5th round he was pressed up against the cage door, licking our hands, smiling his face off and wiggling his butt, tail, and body to the point of either dance or convulsion! .We saw he needed out, and we marked him to be pulled. The next morning was our event, and bright and early we went over there, and Santo knew exactly what was happening...he didnt know the specifics, but he knew he recognized the faces from the day before, he knew we had stopped to invest 2 minutes on him, and he knew that if he was spending any time at all with us today, it was in fact his lucky day. So we pack up our vehicles, and head off to the event. We came packing poodles, cats, a hound, you name it, and .Santo was placed in a cage on our van, great....another cage he thought. The first few hours he had hardly anyone step by his cage because he was one of 'those evil fighting dogs'. His spirits dropped and he thought he was destined to be unloved and back at the kennel. After lunch .I decided to take him out, and brought him into the store where he became the absolute star of the show. He became the unofficial greeter of the petsmart that day, and had so many families stop to ask more information, but unfortunately with the bitter cold and very little publicity, he was unable to be fostered or adopted out, so temporarily we placed him back in his cage at the kennel until someone, hopefully you, can be the ending he was hoping and praying for Sunday when his future foster, owner, or best friend didnt show up. His personality is best described as a ray of sunshine. There was not a face he didnt lick, and not a dog that he showed even the smallest aggression to. .He almost went home with a foster family who's little girl almost cried when they left, the previous half hour the girl and .Santo were frolicking and kissing all over the floor. He is super with children, he is a snuggler, but also wants to run and be active. He loves, loves, loves, some kissing, and his tail is almost always wagging. On the return trip he passed out on the back seat of my pickup truck, and is completely well mannered in the car. You can not ask for a better dog, if we didnt have 6 here already, he would be in our home, and I wouldnt be typing so much. He is up to date on shots and has already been altered. .For any more information or to fill out an application to foster or adopt, please visit www.inourhandsrescue.org .We can transport, and frankly .I can not wait to go back and unlock his cage door for the very last time to take him home.

NYC 10 Month Old Female Has Today Left. Show Her What Love Is..

ALEX – A889013 – 10 month old female pittie mix – 27lbs – Stray, 2/16
“Officer found the dog abandoned at the station house's garage in Brooklyn.”

A Volunteer Writes: Alex is a 10 mo female, a stray at the shelter since 2/16/2016. She weighs 27lbs. Alex was found abandoned in an empty gas station . She could not bear weight on her left hind leg and was probably injured. Possible a motor vehicle accident. Alex is a very pretty gray brindle little girl . She is very thin and came in dehydrated . She is as hungry as a bear and this is how we made friends, with roastbeef as a facilitator... Alex is traumatized. It takes a while to recover from such an ordeal. She sticks out her little tongue like the "white flag of peace". She is telling me:" I am little, I am scared but I am a good girl... Be nice with me." Lovely Alex needs medical care and a good home. May be it could be yours? Alex is at the Manhattan shelter. She is waiting for her new family.

Such a Face! Bella Needs Foster or Rescue-New Jersey

East Hanover, NJ -2ND REQUEST - CAN ANYONE HELP BELLA?? SHE'S BECOMING SEVERLY DEPRESSED AT SHELTER!  URGENT!!!!

Do not respond to this email.. contact is below.

Shelter Manager
194 Rt. 10 West
East Hanover, NJ 07936
Phone: 973-386-0590
Fax: 973-503-9697

PLEASE CROSS POST!! THIS GIRL WILL DIE SOON WITHOUT HELP!!

I am the Shelter Operations Director of Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter in East Hanover, NJ and on Christmas Eve 2009, I received an emergency email about a pit bull who was found in central New Jersey during a terrible snow storm tied to a dumpster with a box of puppies next to her. The puppies were almost overlooked as they were covered in snow and Bella was in horrible shape. She was severely underweight with mange and terrified. One of our fosters took her and the pups in for a few weeks and of course, all of her pups were adopted out quickly.
Bella, unfortunately, is still here at our shelter and has over the past few months started to show serious signs of kennel burnout. She spins and jumps in her kennel, growls and lunges at people walking by and has started to growl and lunge at animals outside of her kennel while walking. She is deteriorating quickly and we have run out of options for her.
It has come to the point that, for Bella’s sake, we have to think about her quality of life and the safety and well being of the public. We are putting out pleas to pittie rescue groups that may be willing to get Bella into a foster home and out of the kennel situation. Bella has until the end of this month to find a “home” or she will be euthanized. This is not a decision we have come to lightly and we are still hopeful that someone will come forward to help her once again. Bella is not good with other dogs or cats and, at this point, should not go with small children. These requirements seriously limit the number of potential adopters for her and has eliminated all of our fosters.
I know you must get, as we do, hundreds of pittie pleas a week but if you can help us help Bella, we would be deeply grateful.

Thank you for your consideration.

Lost White Cat , Selden NY Family Heartbroken, Please Share

SELDEN, NEW YORK.  MISSING WHITE MALE CAT.  HIS LEFT EYE IS BLUE.  HIS RIGHT EYE IS GOLDEN/GREEN.

PLEASE CONTACT:  (631) 846-6466

lost white cat. one blue eye Selden

Lost in the Selden Area. One bi-colored eye, white, short hair cat. bi colored eyes means one is blue and one is gold. I hand raised this baby since before his eyes were opened, he was a feral kitten. I am totally heartbroken and hasnt slept in days. He is on prednisone and needs medicine. My daughter has a spinal disease and as she tried to get out of the house he ran out with her. She hasnt stopped crying. Now we know how family's feel when children go missing. You do nothing but cry and worry. this is rare for the cat to have two different colored eyes, so if you see him or know of anyone who has him, please please help get him home. He is talkative and sings karaoke. He speaks in a very human voice, and babbles. He has no idea that he isnt a human, I never told him he is a cat, he wouldnt believe me. I am the only mother he knew. My heart is so heavy. below is a photo of his two colored eyes and a photo of him sitting on my lap at the computer singing Karaoke. Our family is crushed.
